Text Box:  7. The immortal Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is next. He is ranked by Goulding as number 2 of all time. Really, most experts in classical music say that Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart are so huge in respect that it is really impossible to say which is the greatest…so take your pick. Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 and died at the tender age of 35 in 1791. He wrote an enormous amount of music, and one only can guess how great he would have been if he had lived a normal life span. He suffered often from sore throats and fevers, and most likely had, what we call today, rheumatic fever and strep infections.
Probably everyone is familiar with the fact he was musically a child prodigy and started composing when he was only five years old. Legend even says, that as a tot, while hearing a pig squeal, he yelled out, “G sharp”. We take this story with a grain of salt, but it makes a good story. The interesting facts about Mozart are just too numerous to relate now so we urge you to look him up in the encyclopedia or on the internet at www.ClassicalMusicProject.com to learn more. There are many, many works by Mozart you will recognize, but one we will mention now is Eine Kliene Nachtmusik (Eiina Kliina, Nock Music), or in English a Little Nighttime music.
