35. This French composer has a name that is pronounced two ways depending on who you are talking to. If English it’s DEB-you-see, if French its De-bu-SEE.  His first name is Claude (Clawed). He is  ranked number 22 by Goulding. He lived from 1862 to 1918, 55 years. He, like Puccini, was a stylish dresser, sporting a black beard, and often wearing a black slouch hat, black coat, and carrying a stylish cane. He is famous as an impressionist composer because he tried to produce sensations within people that had been created by events and things outside of themselves. He learned to play the piano with such a light touch that an unearthly sound of beauty was produced…kind of misty, shimmering, and dreamy. A piece you heard on the CD, Claire de Lune, a piano piece written in 1890 was an example of that.  The title means “moonlight” in English, and is one that truly sparkles.
